Life Cycle of a Butterfly

The life cycle of a butterfly includes a process called metamorphosis where each butterfly goes
through 4 stages: from an egg to a larva (caterpillar), then to a pupa (chrysalis), and finally,
they turn into an adult butterfly.

Last month we found a chrysalis in the Kindergarten Quad. We kept it our Primary Science Class and observed it for a week. It was a very exciting process!

This is what was left after the butterfly came out of the chrysalis.

We brought some flowers so it could suck the nectar through the flexible tube that is attached to its mouth (proboscis).

After they emerge, butterflies need to dry their wings before they can fly. We can hardly wait!

We carefully took it outside to finish the process.  Bye butterfly!
